New Perspective

Im gaining a new perspective on the world around me. On the people around me. And more importantly, on our awesome awesome Lord.

You know, its so easy to let bitterness or angst or whatever it is that eats away at your will to love others… take over your heart. so so easy. its scary, if you really think about it. (Ephesians 4:31 really is helping me out of this.)

its difficult to see the people around you struggling with fundamentals of love. Struggling with accepting the love that God has for them. Struggling with accepting or giving (unconditionally) that same love that Christ gives us every second of every day.

These people are all around us. Christians and non believers alike. so many things get in the way, rejection, pride, lonliness… all of that can get in the way of fully accepting the love that Jesus has for us. Which, in essence gets in the way of fully giving (freely and unconditionally) that love to others.

Which means, we are not living up to our potential as believers. If there are walls, if there are obstacles stopping you from walking foward in love, get on your knees and pray that God break them down.  If you know someone who is struggling with this, get on your knees and pray God breaks down the walls they have up. It may not seem like a big deal, but it is. We can not move foward until these ties are cut. The ties we have to our past, our negative self perceptions, standards of the world around us. Ties to harmful or hurtful people surrounding us. All of these ties need to be cut. These walls of selfishness, pride, anger, bitterness, rejection, lonliness… they need to be knocked down.

Because honestly, we cannot move forward until we each see, understand and appreciate our worth. To see how beautifully and wonderfully and fearfully and carefully made we were. Jeremiah Chapter 1 really speaks that to me. God tells Jeremiah that before he was even created in the womb, He knew, sactified and ordained him. God had a complete plan for Jeremiah before he was even formed in the womb. The same goes for us. It is up to us to move foward in His love.

I cant say this enough. We really should be praying against the things that keep eachother from doing all we can do for His kingdom. As a body, we need to be praying for eachother so we can stand strong “and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us”(Eph 5:2) Love is what Jesus commands us to do. Love Him, and love one another. If there is something blocking us from giving or recieving this love, we need to pray against that. We need to pray for each other.

This is such an unseen problem, and its plaguing the body of Christ. Not to mention, being in a culture that teaches we need to watch out for ourselves before we look to one another does not help. We are called beyond that. Colossians 3:12-16 tells us…

” Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”

Instead of getting mad or upset or bitter at eachother for not demonstrating or appreciating this kind of love, we need to get on our knees and pray to our Lord that the barriers keeping us from doing this, will be knocked down. Freeing us to be everything God called us to be.
